The 2008 South Central Jurisdictional Conference began on July 16 in Dallas, Texas. It will last until July 19.  "Hope of the World" is the Conference theme.

DAY 4 - Bishop Hutchinson is reappointed to Louisiana!

Bishop Hutchinson and Kay Hutchinson back to Louisiana.

The bishop left the breakfast to get ready to preach at the consecration service.

DAY 3



Bishop Chamness speaks at the retirement service. He and Bishop Martinez are retiring this year.


Mike Lowry is elected bishop on the 11th ballot.




Rev. Gomez withdraws his name. Rev. Steele did likewise later in the day.

Ballots 14-17 show a deadlock.
Rev. Bell's total is consistently between 125 and 130,
while Rev. Dorff is getting from 161 to 168.

On the 23rd ballot, shortly after 10pm on July 18, 2008, Jim Dorff was elected bishop.

Guests in Dallas from the Louisiana conference included Roger Lathan, Darryl Tate, Martha Orphe, Larry Norman, Rob Fairly, and Ron Sarver.


The Louisiana conference gets a standing ovation for giving 100% of apportionments.
This was followed by a standing ovation in appreciation of Bishop Hutchinson's work in Louisiana.

The general and jurisdictional conference delegates met with nine episcopal candidates on Feb. 8-9 for interviews. The election of bishops will take place at jurisdictional conference in July.

Please keep the delegates and the candidates in your prayers in this time of discernment.
